  • Organizations would be able to use the UN ERP solutions as a springboard to achieving major improvements in administrative and operational processes, as these would incorporate informed business process improvements and streamlining based on the experience and knowledge of practitioners from across the UN system.
  • Organizations currently using ERP systems would also make cost savings in terms of ERP support, in particular upgrades and modifications
  • The cost of entry would be much reduced. Smaller Organizations seeking to introduce an ERP system could adopt a proven UN ERP solution, rather than embark on an individual costly, timely and risk-laden project to introduce an ERP independently.
  • The cost of support of ERP systems would be much reduced with fewer solutions requiring fewer changes
  • Systems could be modified to incorporate new requirements (e.g. ICSC reform of pay and benefits, UN system accounting standards) more quickly, at lower cost and with lower risk
  • Opportunities would exist for an Application Service Provider (for example the International Computer Centre) to operate UN ERP solutions on behalf of many UN Organizations, thereby offering an opportunity, especially for smaller Organizations, to use a UN tailor-made ERP solution, rather than purchase and install one.
